Abstract

This article presents a point of view, under the pragmatic theory of C. S. Peirce, of the big data algorithmic tools contextualized by the case of Cambridge Analytica and its possible interference with the 2016 American elections and the referendum known as Brexit, in the same year. The dynamics of how such tools work is analyzed under the concepts of Dynamic Object, Immediate Object, their correlations with the formation of beliefs and habits and their role in predicting and causing certain courses of action.
